Eric Dempsey

Eric Dempsey is one of Ireland’s leading bird experts and is the author of the best-selling 'Birdwatching in Ireland with Eric Dempsey' and co-author of the acclaimed 'The Complete Field Guide to Ireland's Birds' and 'Finding Birds in Ireland – the complete guide'. He is a professional bird guide, speaker, broadcaster, writer and photographer and has published work on Ireland's birds in Europe, North America and Australia. He is also a team member of the popular 'Mooney' show on RTE Radio 1 and has made numerous TV appearances. Eric now hosts workshops in Sycamore Hill, Wicklow as well as running adult education courses in Dublin. He is also a listed 'Heritage Specialist' working with national school, secondary and third level students.

April Showers and Reality TV!

It's been a while since I have sat down and put pen to paper (metaphorically) to write a small diary from Sycamore Hill. Truth is that it's been a busy month or two and time has slipped by very quickly. Since last writing, we have planted over 100 new trees and, as I write, I am looking over a 30ft hole in the ground that will soon be our new pond….a combination of a pond and small boggy area. So we are hoping to have all sorts of Dragonflies and other insects around the garden this summer.
